Shoulder Pain in Virginia Beach

Almost all of our daily tasks rely on our shoulders. Every day, we utilize our shoulders to brush our teeth, eat lunch, drive to and from work, use the computer, and even swing our arms when walking or running! If you've ever had a problem with your shoulder, you know how much it may influence your daily life.

The majority of shoulder problems are caused by bad posture, repetitive motions, and overuse, which most people are unaware of! This means that the daily tasks we engage in are some of the most prevalent methods to de-condition or weaken our shoulders. When you combine these seemingly minor stressors with weekend activities like throwing the ball around or pulling the lawnmower cord for the first time, it's easy to see why the neck and shoulder are among the most commonly injured areas of the body.

The following is a list of the most prevalent causes of shoulder pain:

Misalignment of the cervical spine:

Muscle weakness, imbalance, and instability result from a lack of nerve supply to the tissues that make up the shoulder girdle.

De-conditioning:

Deconditioning is caused by bad posture and a lack of exercise.

Arthritis:

Arthritis is the breakdown or degeneration of the protecting cartilage in the joints over time, which can be caused by minor misalignments. The acromioclavicular joint, also known as the AC joint, is the most commonly affected joint in the shoulder.

Rotator Cuff Tendonitis:

Tendonitis in the rotator cuff occurs when tendons on a stiff bone become squeezed. Compressed tendons can become irritated or injured, resulting in pain. Repetitive actions in our regular tasks can actually cause this.

Bursitis:

One of the most prevalent shoulder injuries is bursitis. Rotator cuff bursitis is an inflammation of a fluid-filled sac or bursa in the shoulder. The bursa is a fluid-filled sac that sits between a tendon and the skin or between a tendon and the bone, protecting the joint and allowing fluid mobility.

Rotator Cuff Tear:

A rotator cuff tear occurs when tendons or muscles are damaged, leading the tissues to separate from the bone. This condition occasionally necessitates surgery.

Frozen Shoulder:

Frozen Shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) occurs when the tissues that make up the shoulder capsule thicken and tighten. This is a frequent disorder that causes joint stiffness as well as the formation of scar-like adhesions in the joint. These adhesions can actually prevent you from moving your joints at all.

Slap Lesion:

The SLAP lesion is a specific type of labral tear. This indicates that the cartilage that forms the shoulder socket has been damaged. A simple fall onto an outstretched hand is the most prevalent cause of this injury.

As you can see, your shoulder can be injured in a variety of ways.

Chiropractic Care for Shoulder Pain?

Yes. Chiropractors are skilled at diagnosing and treating disorders caused by joint and spine misalignment. While most people identify chiropractic care with back and neck pain, the chiropractors at ChiroSolutions Center also treat shoulder discomfort on a daily basis.

We see shoulder problems every day as chiropractors and treat them successfully. As chiropractors, our major goal is to identify and treat the underlying cause of shoulder problems. Cervical spine subluxations, or misalignments in the spine that put pressure on the nerves, are one of the main causes of many shoulder disorders, as described earlier in this article. Chiropractors are masters at resolving subluxations. As a result, the nerve supply to the shoulder is ideal, and the shoulder joint, as well as the surrounding muscles and ligaments, can work more effectively to avoid injury.

Many people are aware that chiropractors treat the spine, but we also treat all of the body's joints, including the shoulder. Our patients realize that at ChiroSolutions Center, we treat the whole body, looking directly at the neurological system to repair the underlying causes of pain and discomfort rather than just treating and masking pain symptoms.
